FOLLOWING A REFERRAL FROM A MEMBER OF THEIR
MANAGEMENT TEAM WE SUCCESSFULLY SECURED
THE LANDSCAPING CONTRACT FOR THE 230 ACRE SITE
AT THANET EARTH. THE CONTRACT INVOLVED THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 75 HECTARES
OF GRASS, PROVIDING HABITAT FOR MANY INDIGENOUS
SPECIES IN DECLINE AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE
BIODIVERSITY ACTION PLAN LINK INFO TO
HTTP://WWW.UKBAP-REPORTING.ORG.UK/ FOR
CHALK GRASS LAND.
Due to the tight time scales and the dry nature
of the site, we had three weeks to plant and mulch 15,000 trees and
shrubs. We met the deadline and the clients were delighted
with the extremely low losses experienced despite the dry
summer.
We continue in an advisory role supporting the biodiversity
action plan and we maintain the grounds; a key Thanet
Earth customer, Marks and Spencer, have shown an interest
in the site and are keen to develop the habitat for butterflies,
such as Cannon Blue, Small Blue, Marbled White and the
Chalk Hill Blue. These are known to favour the plant species
we re-introduced and would thrive in the habitat now
established. We are working with butterfly specialists and
Thanet Earth to improve the diversity of grass and flower
species to improve further the feed value of the area.
